Frequently Asked Quesions

I have been working on FAQ’s for an online section of our new website.  So here is my question to you…is there a questions that you would like to know that isn’t in the list?  O(f course we would like to keep them general.  Thanks!

What is it that you do? Gateway Center for World Mission (GCWM) trains pastors, leaders and churches to evangelize and disciple the unreached people groups around them.

To what denomination does GCWM belong? GCWM is a cross denomination agency. All of us attend different churches. Support churches are from different denominations and we serve pastors and leaders in the nations in many different denominations.

How does GCWM get funded? GCWM is funded by generous individuals and families, churches and some family foundation grants.

In what countries do you work? Right now we are working in Haiti, Brazil, and Uganda. We decide where to work through invitations. We take the invitations to the Lord and ask Him if we should go and when we should go.

Why do you work primarily with leaders and pastors? We believe in the model that Jesus taught—we invest in the few so that they may also invest in others. In business it is called Train the Trainer model. We also believe that once we have trained leaders in the nations they will be more effective than we could ever be in their nations and be able to go places we could never go.
What do you teach leaders and pastors? Our programs focuses on mission and discipleship. This includes how to send missionaries and care for them on the field, what a call to mission looks like, what a disciple looks like, how to replicate disciples, and strategic intercession.

What program of study do you use? We do not believe in setting up Gateway programs. We want to fit what we teach to those who are asking for it using local resources and local funding.

How many are on your staff? Presently we have three missionary couples, a couple which is support raising (pre-field) and a part-time office person.
