January brought a visit from our Gateway missionary family heading back to Brazil. Four years ago they came home to spend a short time raising funds. They were preparing to return to equip Brazilian missionaries and train Brazilian churches to send them. Sickness, family issues, an economic crisis in Brazil and loss of some donors hit them very hard. Our time with them now was a celebration and final preparation for their return in February.
The Lord has been working in their lives and the Brazilian church and we are excited about the doors that are opening for them. The church in Brasilia is providing them with much help enabling them to return. The church is excited to receive them as they will be much help in the sending of missionaries to fields in the Middle East and the “stans.”
Mission research predicts that there may be as many as 200,000 missionaries that come from Brazil in the next ten years. Their role will be to help the ones sent to be fully equipped, sent out by prepared churches and covered with prayer.
It has seemed like a very long journey, but we know that they are in God’s timing.
