We are sheltered in this time of isolation from most of everything around us. In the quietness, the old song, “O the blood of Jesus,” came to mind. So I began to search the scriptures on the blood of Jesus. God covered Adam and Eve with skins showing innocent blood was shed to cover them.-Gen 3:21 He confirmed his covenant with Abraham with a blood sacrifice.-Gen 15:8-17
He instituted the Passover with the instruction to spread the blood of the lamb on the lintel and doorposts so the angel of death would pass by.-Ex 12:15-17 All this is a picture of the Passover Lamb who took his own blood into the Holy of Holies in heaven to atone for us.
We asked the Lord what we could do in this time of isolation to be a witness and encouragement to those around us. I heard Ps 91. “He who dwells in the shelter of the most high shall abide in the presence of the almighty.” At the same time, the Lord inspired Martha to make our front door a declaration of where our help comes from by putting a ribbon on the lintel and doorposts to symbolize what they did in Exodus.
In this picture you can see both the reflection of the world outside and the cross inside. It is our hope that those around us would not only see that the blood of Jesus that protects us, but also find hope and salvation in His sacrifice.
